Footnotes help with that

Schaeffer continued to develop his apologetics throughout the years. Though brilliant, Fran was not an academic, at least in the strict sense. He picked up ideas here and there from essays or people he encountered. He once told me that an English journal asked him to write an article for them. He did so. But they would not publish it until they had moved some of the content into footnotes to make it look more scholarly!
